Does it matter what gender we ascribe to God?
When Christians refer to God as Father or use masculine pronouns to refer to God, we clearly assign maleness to our view of God. Do we really, though, think of God as having the body parts of a man? If this is not what we mean, then what are we asserting by calling God male? What are the pitfalls of this language? What is lost in our view of God when we use gendered language?
